'Even now,' declares the LORD, 'return to Me with all your heart, with fasting and weeping and mourning.' Rend your heart and not your garments. Return to the LORD your God, for He is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and abounding in love, and He relents from sending calamity. Joel 2:12-13
Let us pray. “Heavenly Father, as our Lenten pilgrimage begins, help us ponder anew Your great love for us revealed in the suffering and death of Your Son. By Your Word, You revealed the depth of our sin and the great cost of our redemption. Confessing our sin, we ask for Your mercy, for it was our transgressions that Jesus carried to the cross. Help us remember that we are dust and to dust we shall return, and grant us always to rejoice in the life You give, through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.”
